Mural in process  - Decorative painter and mural artist Gerhard W. Mounet Lipp

A  4 x15  foot mural on the exterior of a cabinet shop representing the process of a  lumber mill. Transporting the cut trees

over water was always a dangerous process. By arrival at the mill the lumber is cut into planks of various length and sizes and

will be ready to ship to carpenters and cabinet makers.

As reference for the painting, I work from a scaled drawing of the mural, first I outline

with a carpenter pencil the design on to the wall.

by starting with the back ground – sky – forest – water – trees, I base coat each individual

object - The mural is taking shape

Adding values in dark and light  – deepness, shapes and warmth will be created

    ....  adding details and dimensions

As a final step – setting more details and reflections of light will bring the picture to live

The finished painting – a wonderful enhancement to the building
